Bohéme Spirit

A faded Arcadia, cracking frescoes of a bygone era, forgotten melodies played in distant fields.
Summer’s past, love lost, the fragile echo of sweet nostalgia – this exquisite lace ensemble brings to mind the idyllic pastoral Bohemia glimpsed through a painter’s brush.

The two piece set consists of a delicate lace bodice with corset style lace-up back, matched by a daring fairy tale skirt: embroidered cotton, layers of ruffled lace and ribbons, rows of tiny seed beads, and a simple, though elegant train to complete this ephemeral vision.

This “Bohemian Spirit” gown will work best with dolls with a romantic spirit, alive with the heady aroma of music, art and love.

Lace Petticoat

I received some beautiful lace trim as a gift. This little sliver was the perfect scale for a darling petticoat.

Delicate, fragile, without a wig... this simple petticoat is perfect for this tiny creature.

Bare Branches

Working on an elegant evening gown, inspired by the beautiful silk dresses of the 1920's. This little preview captures the stage when this dress would make a lovely little cocktail-frock, however, I will continue to add layers of silk and lace to lengthen the piece to her ankles.

Tu-Tu Cute!

Ottilia is such a well-sculpted doll, sometimes we think a bodice is really just an additional burden. With her childlike playfulness she manages to shine in nothing but a simple tutu skirt.

Tutu’s can be purchased individually, or with a matching bodice to complete a stylish costume ensemble.

With a ribbon on top

Our kind thanks to ReRe for these snapshots, taken when her little costume sets arrived. Now we are just patiently waiting for her dear BJTales dolls to arrive, to try them on!

Mousy Set

Tiny apron-dress for a tiny mouse…. Still in progress, just a sneak peek!!

Softly Sweet

We altered the Whispered Memories summer frock to fit the elegant elvish resin doll Aerica from BJTales.

Grey Poem

The full, gathered tutu brings to mind childhood dreams of glittering stages, dance recitals and silk ballet slippers. A dainty little bodice with lace and ribbon accents completes the feminine, dreamlike look to this ensemble, further enhanced by the soft floral pattern of the delicate cotton fabric.

This set will fit both the resin BJTales Sindy and Aerica sculpts, as well porcelain variations on the Ophelia body sculpt.

Whispered Memory

Embroidered crushed-cotton frock, with peach coloured organza ribbon. The back of this charming little dress features a lace-up closure and layers of lace to form the skirt.

The dress is strapless, for a tighter fit on a smaller doll, the lace-up back can be pulled tighter.

This playful little piece is sure to bring to mind eating berries and cream, writing letters full of longing, smiling, laughing, and sighing.

Peach Lace

Peach organza tutu with gathered-lace waist. Coral-peach ribbons at the back add charm to this little tutu-skirt. White cotton bodice finished with organza trim and ribbons. A simple ribbon-tie at the waist helps to secure the bodice on your darling doll.

For a more haute-couture look, an extravagant flowery headdress and layers of beads livens up this ensemble.

A darling little set heavy with the promise of secrets, childhood days in the sun, and the sweetness of fruit on a warm day.

Polka-Dot Carnival Frock

A pale blush pink ensemble with black polka dot pattern and lace trim. Lace-up corset top accompanies a full, gathered tutu skirt. Tiny string of beads, ribbons, bows and lace hairband to accessorize.

This fun little ensemble brings to mind the showy costumes of faded carnivals, crying clown girls, and the tantalizing memory of the big top.

Introducing Ottilia

The latest muse to inspire me here at Orchid’s Designs is the otherworldly Ottilia, made by doll artist Lidia Snull, known as BJTales. This petite waif stands at 27cm tall, whilst her resin clone “Sindy” will be slightly smaller, measuring in at 23cm. The tiny creations I have been sewing for her are all slightly adjustable, and should fit both porcelain variations of the “Ophelia” body sculpt, as well as the resin “Sindy”and "Aerica" dolls.

Seeing as this doll represents a young child, our designs have adjusted in style and taste accordingly, to fit her particular age bracket and character type. Our tiny ensembles made for her try to capture the wonder of innocence, and the spirit of a curious, lively young mind.
